The Shoremede took up the entire oceanside block of Collins Ave. between 35th and 36th Streets. It was designed by architect Roy F. France for members of the Mead family and it opened on January 3, 1937. I can't find too much else. I get the feeling that the place was run by the mafia, for a time. It's long gone and so is a lot of its history.
